SHOULD WE TEST GOD?

“Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the LORD your God.’ ””

Matthew 4:7 NLT

The devil took Jesus up to the pinnacle of the temple and ask him to throw himself down with the mind that angels will suddenly appear and bear him up, quoting from Psalm 91:11-12 but the Lord would not yield to this temptation because He saw it as testing God. I now begin to think deeply on several things happening in the Church today that clearly represent “testing God”, I discovered that the Christians of today have become scientific Christians, we are looking for signs before we can believe and trust God—Science says “seeing is believing” but Faith says “believe before you see”, and today’s generation have been deceived to become followers of signs rather than followers of God.

Jesus decided not to jump down, not because Satan suggested it but because he doesn’t have to do that to be sure that God is with him and that heaven is backing him up. Some years ago, I was talking to a Brother about my calling, then he said something that really bothered me, he said “if you are an apostle, perform a sign right here” but I responded that I don’t have to do that to be sure of my calling. I know who I am and I know where I am in God, so it’s not about signs and wonders, it’s about my Faith in the Lord and fellowship with Him. When devil is attacking your identity in Christ, that is when he will ask you to do something to prove if truly you are who God says you are…Why should you deliberately walk into danger because you want to prove if God’s Word is true or not?! When the Bible says that if we drink any deadly thing, we shall not be hurt, it didn’t mean that we should deliberately go and drink petrol, jik, dangerous chemicals and poisonous substances—If you do this, it means you are testing God and if you die in the process, you shall be sentenced straight to HELL FIRE. Sometimes, people will ask me saying “Are you a Prophet?” and if I say yes, the next thing they will say is “prophesy me”…and I began to wonder, does that mean if I don’t prophesy I am no longer a prophet?! And this is why many Christians fall into the hands of false prophets because we are busy looking for signs instead of looking for Faith.

Some of you only have spiritual gifts but you don’t have God’s presence inside of you, you don’t have a personal revelation of Jesus and you don’t have a strong fellowship with God, and you might want to ask me WHY?, the reason is because you are not seeking God, you are only seeking for signs. You are busy testing God to see if He is real and true (like a scientific experiment of trial and error), and this is why you can never get God. God is not to be tested, He is to be believed, trusted and feared. This generation are no longer seeking for the face of God, we are only seeking for His works and acts (signs and wonders) and that is why we keep failing the same God we claim we love. It is unbelievers that need signs for them to believe God but Christians don’t need and should not seek signs before believing God.

BIBLE SAYS GOD SHOWED HIS WAYS TO MOSES AND REVEALED HIS ACTS TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, NO MAN WHO KNOWS THE WAYS OF GOD WILL GO AHEAD TO TEST HIM!! WE ARE NOT GETTING THINGS RIGHT, IT IS NOT TESTING GOD (OR LOOKING FOR SIGNS) THAT WOULD PROVE THE VALIDITY AND SURENESS OF HIS WORDS, IT IS SEEKING GOD THROUGH FAITH THAT WILL MAKE HIM VISIT AND CONFIRM HIS WORDS WITH SIGNS AND WONDERS…Testing God can make you lose Him forever, Humble yourself and be wise!!! Amen.
