HOW DO I DISCOVER MY CALLING?

The above question is one of the questions people ask me a lot, and sometimes they ask me to pray and tell them their callings because it seems to be the hardest question they are failing to get answers to. However, from my own personal experience and studies, I realized that “knowing one’s call” is actually one of the easiest things to achieve as a Christian. I found out that the calling of a man had actually followed him into this world since the day he was born, your calling is not something that just appeared at some point in your life, it is something you are and have always been even before you gave your life to Jesus—The only thing Jesus does to your calling is to give it Life, Light, Meaning, Expression, Empowerment and Fulfillment. So, you will end up fulfilling the same PURPOSE you have been sent into this world to fulfill in Christ and through Christ.

For instance, Apostle Paul had always been a man of serious zeal and passion for the things of God even before he had an encounter with Jesus, though he persecuted and killed many believers out of ignorance but he was sincerely doing that to please God (thinking that is God’s will), my point is, he already had a heart for God and His missions even before he was converted to Christianity. Many of you must have been manifesting some traces of your calling since the time you were a child, only that you might not have paid attention to them. Some hardened criminals will tell you that “I know somewhere deep down in my heart that God wants to use me, it’s just that I’m not yet ready for Him”—What is that thing that you naturally find yourself doing since childhood, and once you do it, you get great results and people get blessed?, What is that thing that you do without anyone compelling you to do them, and once you do it, you feel a sense of fulfillment within you (as if your life had just made sense)?, Such thing or things are definitely a key to your real calling. Before God called Abraham out of his father’s house to sojourn to the land of Canaan, his father had actually been on that journey but stopped on the way (I believe his father didn’t see it as a calling)…So, your calling could be something you had already been doing all these while out of zeal, passion or interest but you never knew.

One of the things that I think is confusing many of us in the aspect of knowing our calling is the fact that we think our callings must fall among the five fold ministers (i.e Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher), but it is wrong for you to think this way, it is not everyone that will be called to function in the five fold ministry offices, there’s a long list of other things God can raise you up to do for His Kingdom here on earth…In fact, your current job might be your divine calling from God, you becoming a successful Professor in your field of career can be your divine call, you being a generous giver to God’s business on earth can be your calling…yes, even getting married and raising up godly children for God can be your calling! Another thing is, many of us think that we must be part of the five fold ministers for God to use us to perform great miracles and signs and wonders, but this is not true—also, the fact that you have been used by God to perform signs and wonders doesn’t automatically make you one of the five fold ministers. Every Christian has been called to be Apostolic and Prophetic, to be prophetic is to be moved and led always by the Holy Spirit, and to be Apostolic is to go out and preach the gospel, and teach the truth with Power…So, even in your place of work, you should be winning souls right there! Whenever you are asking God to reveal your calling to you, don’t have a preconceived desire in mind, let your heart be open before God—Your calling is God’s assignments for you.

THE LORD WAS TELLING ME RECENTLY THAT THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS VERY MUCH RELEVANT TO EVERY WALKS OF LIFE, HE SAID WE DO NOT ONLY NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR CHURCH THINGS, WE ALSO NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE SECULAR THINGS WE DO…GOD WANTS TO BE GLORIFIED IN EVERY AFFAIR OF MEN ON EARTH, AND HE IS WAITING FOR YOU TO ALLOW HIM!!

CALLINGS HAS SO LITTLE TO DO WITH “TITLES”, IT IS ALL ABOUT FUNCTIONS AND SUCCESSES, IF YOU ONLY ANSWER TO A TITLE AND YOU FAIL TO DO THE ASSIGNMENT GIVEN TO YOU BY GOD AND TO SUCCEED IN IT, THEN YOU ARE A FAILURE ALREADY!!! Wake Up!!!! Amen.
