GOD OR BREAD? – CHOOSE ONE

When the Scripture says “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”, What exactly does it mean?!

1) IT MEANS YOUR LIVELIHOOD AND SURVIVAL CAN’T COME FROM BREAD ALONE. The Holy Spirit gave me an illustration of what God was showing the Israelites in Deuteronomy 8:3, He said “Just as a man will need both air and water to survive, so is the concept of God and bread. You can’t choose air and ignore water and you can’t choose water and ignore air”, He said the Israelites chose the need for bread above the need for God and this was why God suffered them to hunger, to show them that bread alone is not going to give them survival and prosperity.

I can see how millions of Christians all over the world today are busy working and laboring day and night to get bread or to make money or to feed their families, finance projects, purchase beautiful things and satisfy their needs. They are not busy seeking after God, His voice, His will, His purpose for their lives, to know Him and to obey His commandments. They considered “Bread” more important to life than God—And this is the main reason why majority of us today never get enough Bread, we are never satisfied with the things we are busy seeking after and some of us never got the bread at all, we have become so poor and hungry and are even begging from unbelievers who don’t know God to survive. Whenever you place “Bread” above God, God will make sure that the bread fail you, and this is why some people’s money, jobs, careers and businesses have failed them and they are seriously suffering presently.

2) IT MEANS GOD IS ABLE TO GIVE YOU BREAD EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF BREAD. The Israelites found themselves in a situation where there was no provision for what they would eat and continue to eat, they felt God must really hate them so much to have taken them from where they could work to get food into a wilderness journey with no hope for food, but they never knew God already had plans on how to feed and take care of them through the wilderness journey. God at first did not perform the miracle of manna because He wanted to know who and what and where their hearts are after, and the longer it took them to choose right, the longer it took God to perform the Bread Miracle.

I have discovered that many Christians spend too much time in their wilderness of poverty and lack because they shifted their focus from God to “looking for bread or money”, when the period of your lack was supposed to take just few days or weeks, you made it take years because of your wrong choice. Several places in the Bible had confirmed to us how it is too possible to eat and spend money without working for them, and this was not because of laziness but because those men believed the word of God, obeyed the word of God and followed the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I also realized that thousands of preachers today were meant to be FULL TIME ministers but because they can’t trust God to take care of them, they went into working for money and couldn’t give enough time for the assignment God had called them to do for Him. By FULL TIME, I mean giving 100% of your time to being with God, praying, serving God, serving God’s people and winning souls into God’s Kingdom. There’s so much undone and unfinished businesses/tasks in the Kingdom of God at this time and it is because almost every Christian wants to be out there making money. Let no one deceive you, spiritual assignments are more rigorous, energy draining and dangerous than any physical or secular job you can think of—those who think God’s work is so simple are those who aren’t doing it well.

THERE ARE HEIGHTS AND DEPTHS IN GOD WE HAVEN’T YET ATTAINED BECAUSE WE HAVE REPLACED THE DESIRE FOR GOD WITH DESIRE FOR BREAD/MONEY…YOU CAN’T FAST OFTEN, YOU CAN’T PRAY EFFECTIVELY ANYMORE, YOU ARE SO SHALLOW IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD AND YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING WELL?…OH NO, YOU ARE NOT DOING WELL, IN FACT, IT MEANS YOU ARE SICK, YOU ARE DYING AND YOU ARE PROBABLY ALREADY SPIRITUALLY DEAD!!

Would it be a big thing to take a break from every other businesses you are involved in presently and focus only on God’s business for the next three years?…Would you wait until BREAD fail you before you seek after God?!!! Be wise. Amen.
