THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO THE PROPHETIC

I discovered that majority of pentecostal Christians today do not have the right attitude to the prophetic ministry and gifts. One of the reasons why I don’t like prophesying is because I saw that people have a wrong attitude toward the prophetic gifts, they seem to expect too much from me because I have the gift of prophecy – And if I couldn’t prophesy as they wanted, they will begin to question in their hearts whether I’m a prophet or not. One thing we are failing to understand is that, a prophet or prophetic minister is not supposed to give a prophecy or a prophetic message if the Lord has not led him to do so.

Today, people have taken prophets to become diviners, soothsayers, sorcerers and magicians! Such that if the prophet has not mentioned familiar things like: what they are thinking, what they ate last night, where they went last night, names of close relatives, colour of the clothes they are wearing, their phone numbers, cars’ plate number… Etc, they won’t believe he is really prophesying. To prophesy is not to see what is happening in people’s lives or has happened or will happen, to prophesy is to speak forth what GOD IS SAYING (which may involve the present, past and future) at a particular time to specific people or person. And it is God that determines what the prophet will say to you as prophecy (you are not supposed to expect the prophet say things you want to hear).

In fact, if I may shock you, it is wrong to “seek prophets” in this new testament dispensation, we have been called to seek God and not prophets, the Holy Spirit inside you is your BEST PROPHET and you should trust Him to lead you, guide you and direct you in every day of your life. In this new testament era, it is God that sends prophets to us, we are not supposed to seek after prophets – I’m not saying you shouldn’t go to prophets for prayers and counseling but you shouldn’t expect or ask them to give you a direction or prophecy, they should do that as the Spirit ministers to them…And whatever any prophet tells you should confirm what the Holy Spirit inside you has told you or will tell you – if you don’t follow this standard, you are likely to be deceived and seriously manipulated as devil is currently raising up thousands of false prophets all over the world.

And it is because of our wrong attitude to the prophetic that made us not to discern when God is actually speaking to us through His ministers. Prophecy does not have to come as “thus saith the Lord”, it can come in form of a sermon message being preached from the pulpit, it can come in form of a teaching, it can come in form of a post on social media like Facebook…Etc. If we don’t have the right attitude to the prophetic, we would not see the glory of a true prophetic ministry.

THE PROPHETIC MINISTRY IS A BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL MINISTRY, LET US NOT POLLUTE IT! THE PROPHETIC GIFTS WERE GIVEN TO GLORIFY GOD AND NOT TO PLEASE MEN!!

IF YOU ARE A PROPHET OR YOU’RE PROPHETIC, DO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE CORRUPT YOU, DON’T PROPHESY WHEN GOD IS NOT SPEAKING OR REVEALING…!!! Be Wise. Amen.
